It used to be thought that almost all Saharan tribes had been converted and brought into the modern world with its consequent compulsion of women into a guarded and clothed purity, free from the males' glance. It almost happened to the Kshefaya too, back in the 19th Century but the matriarchal Queen Jama'tha and the elder women refused to accept the fate the males were intending to impose on them and, in one murderous night, got all the males drunk who refused to continue their traditional method of living then took them out and cruelly dispatched them.The remaining males at first were extremely content, cosseted and attended by all the nubile females but they needed more to sustain the population and in it soon became common practice to enslave visiting outsiders, missionaries or traders.

Many attempted to come to the tribe and try to rectify this situation but all found themselves cunningly deceived and enslaved themselves.So long have these women resisted that they have devised an peculiar art to enslaving strangers, using a combination of deceit, force and seduction.

Their way of life continues to this day though today the meat is made up of TV reporters, journalists and other intrepid travellers. Other tribes know well to stay away.

They do not regard nakedness as shameful and prefer to stay naked with as little clothing, as possible temperatures reach over 100.They keep themselves fit by extended walking and running in what a westerner might call hostile terrain, but which is a cherished homeland to them and every hillock or rock outcrop is well-known and frequented.

Mehella was a strong and very typical nineteen year old of the Kshefaya tribe.
